The National Youth Service Corps has rejoiced with a prospective corps, Ramatu Yunusa, who gave birth to a baby boy soon after registering as a member of the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream II service corps in Bayelsa State.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, according to a statement by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, visited the Bayelsa State Referral Hospital, Kaiama, about ten-minutes drive from the NYSC Orientation Camp, where he expressed delight at the safe birth of the baby.
He announced that the NYSC would “settle the medical bills incurred by the PCM and her baby.’
Briefing the Director-General, the NYSC Bayelsa State Coordinator, Ojugo Elizabeth, said Ramatu was conveyed to the hospital as soon as she started showing signs of labour, adding that she gave birth to her child at the hospital safely.

The Hospital personnel who attended to her, including a Corps Medical Doctor, Clara Chiebonam Mbanusi, confirmed that both mother and baby were in good condition.
Speaking during the visit, Ramatu and her husband, Liman Aliyu Suleiman, both expressed appreciation of the support given to the family by the NYSC management.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim has advised the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 PCMs to be focused and hard working so as to achieve prosperous future.

Ibrahim, who gave the advice at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai, in Rivers State, further enjoined them to be humble and avoid lifestyle of ego, pretense and self-deceit.
He told them to take advantage of the vast opportunities provided through the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme for self-employment and wealth creation.
The DG reminded the PCMs that their potentials were huge and limitless, and warned them to shun acts capable of putting them in the harm’s way and truncating their journey to success.

Ibrahim stressed that the oath of allegiance that would be administered on them would be binding, adding that they must propagate the virtues of patriotism, discipline, hard work, unity and integration of Nigeria at all times as championed by the Scheme.
He warned the PCMs against unauthorised journeys and to be security conscious at all times, so as not to put themselves in harm’s way.
Ibrahim further admonished the PCMs to use the social media to promote our unity and understanding.
The DG was accompanied on the visit by the Acting Director of Special Duties, Alhaji Musa Abubakar.
