In his speech at the event, the new ALÁDÉ of Atokejoye Ileogbo, traced the history of Atokejoye as a settlement founded by Prince Olakale and his people, who migrated from the old Oyo empire centuries ago.
He recalled that Atokejoye was attacked by the Fulani war of 1820, and that quite a number of Baales have reigned in the place which was an historical site of Ileogbo.
Oba Simeon Adediji utilised the occasion to express his deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, for making the dream of his elevation to the status of part II Oba, from Baale under the Chiefs Law of Osun State Cap.25 of 2002 come into reality.
Oba Adediji explained the procedure through which he was selected and recommended for elevation to the position of Alade of Atokejoye Ileogbo.
He gave credit of his appointment to Ayedire Local government Chieftaincy Committee under the Chairmanship of Oba Dr Abeeb Adetoyese Agbaje Arowookunjoye ii, the Olu of Ileogbo.
According to him, it was Ayedire Local Government Chieftaincy Committee which unanimously recommended his elevation to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, before he became a beaded Crown Oba.
In praising Governor Ademola Adeleke, Oba Adediji described the Osun State government under Senator Adeleke, as humane administration that is based on the principles of fairness, equity and justice.
The Aládé of Atokejoye Ileogbo declared that Ayedire Chieftaincy Committee is autonomous and independent and should not be regarded as an appendage of any Oba outside Ayedire Local Government.
In clear terms, Oba Okunlade declared: “we have our own Chieftaincy Committee in Ayedire, and Olu of Ileogbo is the Chairman, this is a matter of being independent as an autonomous Local Government Area “.
