The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leaders have vowed to embark on its strike action next Tuesday in spite of the threat of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun State to deal with the NLC President, Ayuba Waba.
NLC had earlier postponed slated for today, March 1 to Tuesday next week in which it said would occupy the state.

Amosun accused Wabba of planning to play politics in the state with the proposed protest and asked him to play the politics in his state.
Amosun, who spoke in Yoruba, said,
“Tell the NLC leader, Ayuba Wabba, that he would be disgraced if he comes to the state. The protest is about politics. He should not dare to come to Ogun State.
“Workers in Ogun State are happy with our administration because their salaries and entitlements are being paid.”
Recall that the NLC gave notice to the state government in respect of its decision to embark on the protest on March 1, 2019 to press home the workers’ demand for the payment of all outstanding salaries and entitlements, as well as the reinstatement of sacked labour leaders.
The NLC, however, said the protest had been postponed till Tuesday.
While reacting to Amosun’s threat, the NLC in the state, led by Akeem Ambali, said Amosun’s alleged desperate move, lies and propaganda had been exposed.

The NLC in its statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta said, “The sudden vituperations by Senator Amosun betrayed his inability to handle industrial labour relations maturely in line with global practices.
“…Instead of resorting to blackmail, intimidation to oppress workers, it will be more honourable to adopt a matured approach of dialogue with labour before Tuesday 5th of March to resolve all issues as no man has a monopoly of power and wisdom most especially when this immunity will expire within the next three months.”
“Labour wishes to state that the empty threats and denial of evident diversion of bailout funds by Federal Government and Paris funds refund which was meant for the payment of a backlog of unpaid deductions like cooperative, shilling fund, ileya and Xmas savings of Ogun workers running into billions of Naira
“Threats to life of labour leaders, suspension and dismissal of labour leaders without following due process in other to cripple labour unions to enable him to continue this anti-labour policy cannot be seen by any reasonable mind as just.”
“We wish to notify all security agencies to be more vigilant and provide security cover to all labour leaders to prevent their assassination before, during and after the mother of all protests coming up next week Tuesday.”
