The two major political parties in Ondo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are trading blames over the violence that erupted between the two parties at Oba-Akoko area of the state on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.

The governorship candidate of the PDP, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) has said in his official Twitter Page monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE ONLINE NEWS that the attack on Wednesday on his convoy was an attempt to assassinate him,
“This afternoon, our campaign entourage was attacked by APC thugs at the Palace of the Oloba of Oba Akoko in Akoko South West LGA. Shots were fired in a clear attempt at assassination. Some were injured & vehicles destroyed.”

“This happened in the presence of the governor. We are not going to be dissuaded, but this cannot continue; it has to stop. They are trying to spread fear, & we are not afraid, we are focused and we are winning. Ondo State belongs to all of us.”
