The Office of the Hon. REC, Dr, Mutiu Agboke welcomed a distinguished delegation
from the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

 

The team was led by Barrister
Hashim Abioye.

 

During the visit, the Hon. REC, drawing from his experience as a former member of
the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), encouraged the OSSIEC
Management Team to guide the electoral process diligently and strive for positive
distinction from previous electioneering processes.

 

The Hon. REC addressed the OSSIEC team on key issues that could enhance the successful discharge of their duties, including:


Regular engagements with the electorates to address public perception.


Interface with public officials to ensure a smooth electoral process.


Designing election processes with minimal public rejection.


Ensuring sanity in the recruitment of Ad hoc staff.

 

Building public trust by guiding the electioneering process diligently and maintaining openness with the media and the general public.

In an effort to provide practical guidance, the Hon REC presented the OSSIEC Chairman with the INEC Election Rules and Guidelines. This gesture aimed to equip OSSIEC with essential tools for the effective organization and conduct of elections in Osun State.

To formalize the visit, the Chairman of OSSIEC signed the Official Visit Register, signifying the commitment to collaboration and mutual support between the two electoral bodies.

 

The official visit concluded with a group photograph, symbolizing the
camaraderie and partnership between INEC and OSSIEC in fostering free, fair, and credible electoral processes in Osun State.

In another development, a remarkable ceremony was held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Eti Osa Lecture Hall, Fountain University Campus, Osogbo, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for INEC Osun State, Dr. Mutiu AGBOKE, was conferred with a prestigious Merit Award
by the Fountain University.

The event was graced by distinguished personalities, including the Management Team,
Electoral Officers led by the Chairman of the Electoral Officers’ Forum, and staff of the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Osun State, members of Unilorin
Alumni, as well as families and friends of Dr. Mutiu AGBOKE. In admiration, the amiable wife of the Hon REC, Mrs. Monsurat AGBOKE, was also present, demonstrating her support for her husband’s outstanding achievements.

The award recognized Dr. Agboke’s outstanding contributions to the academic community and his significant role in advancing the electoral process in Osun State.

Notably, the university acknowledged Dr. Agboke’s commendable efforts in providing

The awardee’s dedication to upholding transparency, integrity, and fairness in electoral activities in Osun State has made a significant impact on the electoral landscape.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, lauded Dr. Mutiu Agboke for his unwavering commitment to
excellence in both academia and electoral processes.

She further reinforces the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and public service entities for the overall development of the society.

 

The Chairman of the Electoral Officers’ Forum commended Dr. Agboke for his leadership style, which has fostered unity and collaboration among electoral officers in the state.

 

Members of Unilorin Alumni expressed pride in Dr. AGBOKE’s achievements, highlighting his alma mater’s role in shaping leaders who contribute significantly to the progress of society.

 

The ceremony concluded with expressions of gratitude, light refreshments and photo
session.
