OSUN State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Abdul-Ganiyu Raji has warned voters not to expose their ballot papers while exercising their voting rights in Osun in today’s governorship elections.
Speaking during the Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday night, he stated that anyone caught would be arrested.
He added,
“Our regulation stipulates that you have to fold your ballot paper about three or four folds before coming out to put into the box, where that is not done, it is an offence and the Presiding Officer has the right to hand over the person to the security agents that are present.
“If a person is trying to expose the person he has voted for, the next thing is for him to be arrested before he will even drop the ballot paper in the box. A paper that has not been dropped in the box is automatically invalid.”
It is an offence to go to the Polling Booth with your phone to snap your Ballot Papers or exposing it to someone to indicate who you voted for or give or collect cash at the polling booth arena.
