The Osun State Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola presented the 2021 budget of Providence to the state’s House of Assembly on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.
According to Oyetola, the budget proposal of N109.85 billion is meant to rebuild and stabilize the Osun State economy post-COVID-19 era.
Today, I presented the State of Osun 2021 Budget Proposal of N109.85bn before honourable members of the State House of Assembly. The 2021 Appropriation Bill is christened ‘Budget of Providence’ with the aim of rebuilding & stabilizing the economy of Osun post-Coronavirus era.
With a total budget estimates of N109.85bn, the proposed budget contains a recurrent expenditure of N50.62bn (46%) while a total of N59.23bn (54%) is earmarked for capital expenditure. Our focus is on infrastructure, education, youth devt., healthcare, agric., among other sectors.
In the current fiscal year, our admin embarked on massive infrastructural development based on citizens’ needs assessment. We’ll keep up with this drive in 2021. Considering the heavy traffic & frequent accidents, we shall construct a Flyover Bridge at the Olaiya Junction, Osogbo.
The proposed Flyover is a 4–span Bridge which has a total span length of 60m with each being 15m. It has 196 meters approach ramp from Fakunle end, while that of MDS approach ramp is 99.95m, totalling 295.95m length of approach ramp. The total length of the Flyover Bridge is 335m.
In view of the role of our young people in our economic diversification agenda, we shall involve them in the State’s socio-economic activities.
Thus, we’re poised to promote the Youth Export Development Program to enhance Osun’s youth contributions to Nigeria’s non-oil export sub-sector
In the proposed 2021 budget, we earmarked the sum of N1.48b for youth related activities which shall cover various youth empowerment programmes, Osun Micro credit revolving loan, Business support service credit scheme to artisans, entrepreneurship development programs, among others.
