OSUN Police Command on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 paraded two suspected thieves identified as Olalere Gbenga ‘M’ Age 54 years and Muftau Balogun ‘M’ age 37 years for buying goods with fake bank alerts and transfers.

 

The duo according to the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, CSP Yemisi Opalola specialized in purchasing goods especially rice and vegetable oil with fake bank alerts and transfers.

BRIEF FACT OF THE CASE:

On 6th January, 2025 at about 6:45pm, upon information received from members of Local Hunters Group Osogbo that, some habitual hoodlums whose modus operandi is to purchase goods especially rice and vegetable oil with fake bank alerts/transfers were sighted at Oke Ayepe Area,Osogbo, Police Detectives from.

Anti-Cultism Unit swung into action, the above named suspects were apprehended, while three bags of rice were recovered as exhibits.

Discreet investigation reveals that, the suspects were once arrested by the Police Operative from Ata-Oja Division in September, 2024 on similar offence reported by about 24 complainants.

The suspects were charged to court and remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre for two months-September to November, 2024 but unfortunately, the very day they were granted bail at the court, they went and committed the same offence of purchasing rice/vegetable oil with fake transfer alerts where nemesis caught up with them.

The first suspect claims to be an Honourable/Senator while the second suspect presented himself before his unsuspecting victims as DSS Operative.

Investigation also reveals that, similar case was reported against the same suspects at Dugbe Police Division.

The suspects confessed to the crime and they will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.”
