THE Osun State Police Command has reacted to a viral video on social media where some police officers were caught extorting money from commuters along Iwo-Osogbo Road in Osun State.

According to a Press Release by the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola available to SOJ WORLDWIDE on the Command’s official Twitter Page, the erring Police Officers have been identified, arrested and detained.

 

 

 

 

This is to inform the general public that the Osun State Police Command is aware of the viral video trending on social media showing some policemen extorting commuters along Ile-Ogbo/Iwo axis.

The Police officers involved in this unprofessional and unethical behaviour have been identified, arrested and detained.

The Police Command frowned and condemned the act in totality as the erring police officers are currently in detention since Thursday, 10/08/2023 and undergoing investigation and eventual disciplinary procedure of orderly room trial for their unprofessional conduct while the senior officer among them has been queried accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police wishes to apprise the general public, most especially the good people of Osun State that, he will never condone any act of indiscipline and unprofessional conduct exhibited by any member of the Nigeria Police under his watch.”

  1. It’s a fake promise. NPF will never stop extortion. If they’re serious, those arrested officers should expose their dpo or the area commander. It’s all a gimmick. Never trust those officers.
    They’re evil.

  2. I appeal to Nigerian police to be truthful for once . Road extortion is the primary, secondary, and tertiary function of all checkpoints and surveillance patrol. I don’t even believe there is any other reason they come on roads. Nobody spoils a bad name, so please Nigerian police, just be bold to accept the obvious.
