THE Student Union Government (SUG) of the Osun State Polytechnic on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 sent a subtle message to the State Government, ASUP and the School Management to resolve the crisis bedeviling the higher institution on or before next Monday, August 7, 2023.
The student leaders in their Press Release signed by the Exco led by its President, Hon. Azeez Tajudeen Adebayo available to SOJ WORLDWIDE said they have made fruitless efforts to aggrieved parties to see reasons with them concerning their education which is under jeopardy since the stalemate that shut the school started two weeks ago.
“We, the Student Union Government (SUG) of Osun State Polytechnic Iree, write this press release to express our profound concern and disappointment over the ongoing impasse that has led to the closure of our beloved institution. As the duly elected representatives of the student body, we feel it is our responsibility to advocate for the rights and welfare of all students.
As you are well aware, a crucial reconciliation meeting was promised by the Commissioner of Education, Chairman of Osun State Polytechnic Iree Governing Council, and the Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Education. The purpose of this meeting was to address the unresolved issues between the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), the school management, and the Osun State Government.

Regrettably, despite the assurances made, this meeting has not taken place, and there has been no tangible progress in resolving the issues that have led to the closure of our institution. The prolonged closure of our campus has caused immense disruption to our academic activities, negatively impacting the future and aspirations of thousands of students.
In light of the lack of progress and the urgency of the situation, we, the Student Union Government (SUG), hereby issue an ultimatum to the concerned parties to settle the issues and convene the reconciliation meeting before Monday, 7th August 2023.
We firmly believe that this ultimatum allows sufficient time for all parties to come together, engage in constructive dialogue, and reach a resolution that prioritizes the interests of the students and the academic community.
Failure to heed this ultimatum will leave the student body with no choice but to stage a peaceful protest at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo. We want to emphasize that our protest will be conducted responsibly, adhering to the principles of peace, respect for law and order, and the rights of all individuals.

We reiterate our commitment to seeking a peaceful resolution, but we also assert our right to voice our concerns and demand prompt action on matters that directly impact our education and future prospects.
We urge all concerned parties to treat this matter with the utmost urgency and seriousness it deserves. We believe that through cooperation and open dialogue, a resolution can be achieved that benefits all stakeholders involved.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. We look forward to a timely and positive response, allowing us to resume our academic pursuits without further delay.”
