I get worried of the fact that so much is going on in Osun state in terms of development and services to the ordinary people and yet we as Nigerians, and particularly as Yoruba people, have refused to acknowledge or admit it either for self-serving political motives or for other reasons which are best known to ourselves.
Instead of playing politics and indulging in the usual grandstanding that so many others have been doing in their states, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State is one Governor, leader and mentor that is clearly rolling up his sleeves up, working extreemly hard for his people and looking within with clear mind, vision and purpose.
It appears to me that he believes that the work itself and the purposeful establishment of an intimidating legacy of good governance and massive infrastructural development throughout the state will do the talking for him. And he is right.
Frankly I am just amazed and it is only a man that is filled with the deepest compassion for the less privilaged and one who appreciates the fact that political power and leadership is bestowed upon individuals for one purpose only- to transform the lives of the ordinary people, to make their community a far better and easier place for them to live, to provide the opportunities and environment that will enable them to achieve their full potentials and to bring hope and succour to the poor, the needy and the less privilaged- that can do all this. His amazing initiatives in human capital developments, economic empowerment, security and capacity building are extremely inimitable in nature.
And as a true party man, the All Progressives Congress [APC] in Osun State is better led, nurtured and galvanised by you and please rest assured sir that posterity will kindly speak well about you for all your excellent and enviable deeds politically and socio-economically.
Sir, your good deeds are open to the opposition who sees a common enemy in your party, while I also appeal to you most humbly to simply play more of politics in house for your party not to see themselves as enemy within.
Come to think of it, how Governor Oyetola manages to fund many legacy projects in Osun State and at the same time pay workers salaries and take care of all his recurrent expenses is a wonder to me and to many right thinking Nigerians. His priority is clearly to transform the face and fortunes of the people of the state and to ensure that he helps the poor and leaves a robust legacy of massive infrastructural development, decency and compassion.
What I often see in Osun State has brought me immense joy and hope for Yorubaland and indeed for Nigeria. If Governor Oyetola had the kind of financial resources available to the Governors of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kano, Anambra and Delta states respectively, I can only imagine what he would have achieved by now. His efforts in Osun state are a testimony to the fact that when the right man is given the opportunity to serve the people things really can and do change.
My esteemed Governor, sir, you are not just a blessing to Nigeria but also to humanity. Your enemies keep falling at your feet and you have been totally vindicated.
Those that opposed and betrayed you have now come back to bow before you but those of us that have stood by you since your inception into office stand tall and proud.
Despite all, you have been consistent and strong and you have kept us all going. Your star continues to shine and the future is great for you. You still have much to offer our nation not just in Osun State and we shall continue to support and pray for you. You are by far the most decent, humane and civilised man in Nigerian politics. God bless you, my leader and may God bless and prosper Osun State under your distinguished leadership.
