The opposition party stated that the said sum was meant to construct four trailer parks in different locations across the state.

This allegation was made in a press release issued by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Soji Adagunodo.on Sunday.

Adagunodo alleged that the said contract was awarded to a company, Jericho, Ibadan in 2013, and the parks were to be located at Ikirun, Egbedi, Osunjela and Oloki, adding that the contract was never executed, after money for the contract was paid to the contractor.

“We recall that the one in Egbedi was to be located at an open space near a construction company on the Osogbo-Iwo road. A big signpost mounted at the proposed location was hurriedly removed by agents of the government sometime last year in an apparent move to hide the fact that the contract was ever awarded.

“This is indeed another evidence of the massive fraud and corruption which have been the hallmark of the Aregbesola administration in the last 7 years.

“Governor Aregbesola is duty bound to account for the approval of such a colossal amount of money on trailer parks which were not constructed.

“The people of Osun state also deserve to know the promoters of the Ibadan-based company which got the contract in a rather non transparent manner.

“The State chapter of the PDP will continue to expose the various financial and managerial crimes committed by the APC administration in Osun state since it came into office in November, 2010.

“This, we believe, is the only way to save the state from the mistake of ever entrusting its fortunes in the hands of political marauders whose only purpose in politics is to fester their own nests and those of their god-fathers,” Adagunodo said.

Meanwhile, efforts to get the reaction of government to the allegation were futile as calls put through to the Commissioner for Information in the state, Adelani Baderinwa, were not answered.
