As a rejoinder to the recent publication in the print media and the radio broadcast, alleging the Olu of Ileogbo Kingdom, Oba Abeeb Adetoyese Agbaje Arowookunjoye ii of land grabbing and racketeering, Oba Agbaje has warned the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu I, to check his inordinate ambition of expanding his Kingdom to Ileogbo, the headquarters of Ayedire Local government area of Osun State.

In a release signed by Engineer Prince Dele Akintola, the Baba Oba in general, Oba Adetoyese warned the Iwo Princeses not to encourage the Oluwo of Iwo in his overzealousnes to rule Ileogbo remotely from Iwo.

The public would recall that the forum of Iwo Princeses in a newspaper publication alleged that Olu of Ileogbo is engaging in land grabbing and racketeering, a malicious and scandalous information to deliberately bring the respectable stool of Ileogbo kingdom into disrepute.

The release stated that the general public should note that, it is the Oluwo of Iwo who is championing the hegemonic move to take over the stool land belonging to the entire ruling houses in Ileogbo, by sponsoring Oke isaji and Asalu quarters in Iwo , to take possession of the inheritance which does not belong to them.

As clarified by Engineer Dele Akintola on behalf of Ileogbo palace, the matter in dispute between Ileogbo and Iwo is territorial usurpation on the part of Iwo, claiming that ” IWOLAND ” extends to the stool land of Ileogbo, over which there was a supreme court judgment about fifty years ago. The release stated further:

” As a law abiding people, Ileogbo took the matter to the Osun State Boundary Commission in Osogbo, where we tendered the Supreme Court Judgment as a clear evidence that we own the land, but no proof of ownership has been provided by Iwo up till now “.

The release accused Oke isaji and Asalu quarters in Iwo, of grossly violating the order of the Boundary Commission that both parties should maintain the statusquo, but they(Oke isaji and Asalu) still persist in the illegal act of selling Ileogbo stool land up till this moment.

The statement added that it is the duty of Olu of Ileogbo to check mate Iwo from trespassing on the stool land, as against the malicious name calling that Olu of Ileogbo is a land racketeer.

For public awareness, the statement hinted, that the usual sing-song that Olu of Ileogbo has been selling his people’s land is not real after all. This is because, no Ileogbo indigene that has valid statutory or customary title to his or her land has dragged the Olu of Ileogbo to court for trespass.

Despite the Supreme Court declaration that Aiba stream is the boundary between Ileogbo and Iwo, the Iwo people, through Asalu and Oke isaji families have invaded and tresspassed on the land of Ileogbo for more than 5 kilometres radius. Olu of Ileogbo is trying to stop further incursion by Iwo people, and that is the cause of the instant dispute.

The release finally advised Oluwo of Iwo and his subjects namely, Asalu and Oke Isaji to obey the various court judgements all to the credit of Ileogbo kingdom, since the court is the final and ultimate arbiter.
