Parents of a Private Secondary School, Feso International School, Ilesa have written a petition to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the State Commissioner of Police over what they termed as illegal registration of underage pupils of the school as eligible voters by the proprietor.
They alleged that the proprietor last Friday in connivance with a particular political party took the pupils ranging from 13-15 years of age, gave them #200 each and registered them as voters at the INEC office located at the Secretariat of Ilesa-West local government.
According to the contents of the petition, the pupils were led to the INEC office by the school’s security guard and a teacher in dresses different from their school uniforms after being given #200 each.
The cat was let out when a vigilant agent of the commission, Mr. Opeyemi accosted the students numbering about 20 on queue which led to one of the students confessing that they were asked to perpetrate the crime by their proprietor.
The parents through the petition appealed to the state government to set their children free as they only sent their children to school to study and not to register as underage voters at the INEC office.
They however called on Governor Oyetola and the Commissioner of Police to order the immediate arrest and prosecution of the proprietor, the guard and the teacher who led the students to the INEC office so as to serve as deterrent to others.
