The serenity of Ilupeju area of Lagos was disrupted with the shattering news of an Indian National, Devendra Singh who allegedly hanged himself in his office.

The 42-year-old Singh had reportedly committed suicide at his private office on Egbeyemi Street in the ever serene Ilupeju Undustrial Estate.
His driver, according to Investigations, had driven him to his office on Friday, April 29 and had as usual, began the routine of office work.
Singh, who worked for Agro Nigeria Ltd, Ikeja, had over-stayed in the office and in the evening he took his life.
It was learnt that the driver, who was worried that his boss had not come out from his office, called his phone number several times without response.

“The driver went to his office and took a furtive look into the office through the window.
“Behold he was shocked to see the body of his boss hanging having got the rope.
“The driver called his colleagues around 7.30pm saying he brought his boss to the office in the morning and that his boss was not out and that he had tried calling him and he did not pick his calls.
“His colleagues then informed their company’s Chief Security Officer.

“A few minutes later, the driver peeped through the window of the office and saw that his boss had hanged himself on the iron hook used in holding a ceiling fan,” a worker in the facility said. Singh did not leave any suicide note.
Police had removed Singh’s body and deposited it in the mortuary of the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Spokesman for the State Command, DSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said Police Commissioner Abiodun Alabi had ordered an investigation into the incident.
“Investigation has begun into the incident to ascertain if it is truly suicide or murder/manslaughter packaged as suicide.”
