Politics of do-or-die reared its ugly head in Kwara between APC and PDP with each party claiming innocence, although blood was already flowing, properties destroyed.

It was reported on Sunday that the Kwara State governorship candidate of APC narrowly escaped death by the whiskers from suspected members of PDP thugs.
The suspected PDP thugs fired at a rally the governorship candidate was attending at Ode Alfa Nda area of Ilorin, Â the state capital.

AbdulRazaq, who had on Saturday begun a door-to-door mobilization of voters in Ilorin, was said to have been hurriedly spirited away from the rally as thousands of party supporters also scampered for safety.
Two people, it was gathered, were seriously injured by gunshots fired by the thugs at the rally and have since been taken to the hospital.
The violence occurred almost simultaneously with similar attacks on APC supporters in Ile Aiyelabegan, a household that is a distance from the Agbaji homestead of the Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Reacting to the development. Mallam Abdulrazaq media aide Rafiu Ajakaye said, “we condemn this brazen resort to violence. This is getting out of hand.
Nigerians are urged to prevail on the Senate president to prevail on his party thugs and stalwarts to give peace a chance in Kwara. There is life after politics,†Rafiu Ajakaye, media aide to the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq campaign organization, said in a statement.
“We call on all the security agencies to buckle up and tame the monsters who are now terrorizing everybody in not just Ilorin but everywhere in Kwara where people express their desire for freedom and life more abundant.â€

The Nigerian Police Force confirmed that suspected Peoples Democratic Party, PDP thugs went on the rampage in Ilorin, Kwara today and disrupted a rally being held by the All Progressives Congress.

This was contrary to the impression created by Senate President Bukola Saraki on Friday that it was the APC members that were attacking his family home and supporters.
“As we speak, the situation report from Kwara State Police Command was that the APC holding a Governorship campaign rally at Agbaji in Ilorin came under a sudden attack by suspected PDP thugs, who disrupted the rally, damaged five vehicles and some Keke Napep and wounded two innocent peopleâ€, police spokesman Jimoh Moshood said.
“The family house of the Senate President was not attacked as being peddled in some social mediaâ€, Moshood added.
