Brahim, who joined City as a 16-year-old from Malaga, turned down an improved contract offer to stay with the Premier League champions. Reports has it that he had grown frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities.
He made just four appearances for City this season — three in the Carabao Cup and one in the Community Shield — with manager Pep Guardiola preferring to use more senior options in the Premier League and Champions League.
Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain had also been linked with the Spain Under-21 international, but Madrid won the race for his signature.
