A man identified as Hamzat has accused his wife, Safiyah, of using the water she used in washing her private parts to prepare food for him.
Hamzat made this revelation at the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Hamzat, who initiated divorce proceedings, told the court that Safiyah’s behaviour changed negatively after their marriage, leading to frequent disagreements.
He alleged, “My wife is stubborn and always determined to do whatever she wanted.”
The plaintiff further claimed that Safiyah’s mother influenced her actions, stating, “I later discovered that my mother-in-law was the one encouraging my wife to rub shoulders with me in the home.”
He expressed concerns that their intention was to manipulate him.
Highlighting his allegations of diabolic practices, Hamzat said, “My wife washed her private part and used the water to cook my food.”
He believes these actions were attempts to control him, which he claimed were unsuccessful.

Additionally, Hamzat accused Safiyah of theft, alleging that she regularly stole money meant for his business operations, leading to financial strain.
He stated, “She has almost made my business go bankrupt because she steals on a regular basis the money meant to run my business.”
The plaintiff also expressed concerns about the impact of Safiyah’s behaviour on their children, describing her as “a bad example.”
Consequently, he pleaded with the court to dissolve their marriage and grant him custody of their three children.
Hamzat further requested the court to issue an order restraining Safiyah from harassing, threatening, or interfering with his private life post-divorce.
Despite being served court summonses, Safiyah failed to appear in court to respond to the allegations.
Presiding over the case, S.M. Akintayo ordered that a fresh hearing notice be issued and served to Safiyah. The case has been adjourned to April 8 for further hearing.
This case underscores the complexities that can arise in marital relationships, especially when allegations of harmful practices and financial misconduct are involved.
The court’s forthcoming decision is anticipated to address these serious allegations and determine the welfare of the involved children.
