Miss Uniubong Umoren did not ask for too much in a society that careless for the next generation.
She only asked for a job to take care of herself being an orphan to earn a living but she met her untimely death after struggling to become a graduate in a country where you need to know somebody that knows somebody to get admission into the university, you need to pay for Handouts in to get a pass in any your subjects.

At the end of it all, Miss Umuren was raped and killed by her cruel abductor under the pretence of giving her a job.
If only the dead could talk, what would she be saying to her assailant and the country that wasted her in her prime.

Hundreds of family and friends from different walks of life defied the early morning rains to pay their last respect to Umoren in a solemn and sorrowful atmosphere.
Umoren who was orphaned struggled through many difficulties in life to acquire her University education.
By all accounts, she was a brilliant scholar who needed a job to fend for herself when she was brutally murdered by those she trusted to find one for her.

On the same day, the State Commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andrew paraded her killer, a twenty-year-old 300 level student of Public Administrations at Obong University, Uduak Akpan.
His father, 64-year-old Frank Akpan, a retired Deputy Director in the Federal Ministry of Health said he is surprised at the action of his only son; hoping he finds mercy in the hands of the law.
