Two little girls kidnapped in mother’s car at Akure regain freedom

Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the release of two little girls who were kidnapped along with their mother’s car in Akure four days ago.

A family source who confirmed the release of the two girls said the two girls reunited with their parents on Tuesday night around 10 pm after paying N5m ransom.

The source disclosed that the two girls, two-year-old Fikayo and four year old, Bolu, were led to their parents by some security operatives from the State Police Command who handed them to their parents.

He explained that the two girls were dropped around Okuta Elerinla where a good Samaritan saw them at an odd hour and took them to the police station where they were handed to their parents.

He, however, confirmed that the kidnappers who initially demanded N40m as ransom reduced the money to N5m after negotiating with the parents of the small girls.

According to the source, the joy of the mother knew no bounds as she reunited with her two-year-old daughter and her sister’s daughter staying with her.

He said: “We want to thank all those that have offered prayers and entreaties for the quick release of our girls. I can confirm to you that they have regained their freedom and reunited with their mothers.”

The two girls were in their mother’s car in Akure, around 8 pm last Friday while trying to open the gate to her compound after returning from an outing.

The hoodlums hijacked the car and drove the vehicle away with the two little girls and the incident was reported at the police station.

But the abductors contacted the mother of the girls on Saturday evening and allowed them to speak with their mother without demanding ransom, assuring her of the safety of the girls.

Confirming their release, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami, said the girls had regained their freedom on Tuesday night.

She said a good Samaritan who saw them in the night took them to a police station and said the little girls had been handed to their parents.

She, however, denied payment of ransom for the release of the little girls.  It would be recalled that the two kids were kidnapped when their mother disembarked from the car to open their gate that the gunmen struck to abduct the children and escaped with the car.
