UNIABUJA Deputy Registrar narrates his nasty ordeal in kidnappers den in the forest

On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, deadly gunmen invaded University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) Senior Staff Quarters kidnapped two Professors, their children and other staff.

The security agents swung into action to rescue all the kidnapped victims while the Government of Niger State demolished the house of the ring leader of the gunmen.

One of those kidnapped Malam Sambo Mohammed narrated his nasty experiences at the hands of the terrorists.

Mohammed, a deputy registrar, said it was a very painful experience.

He said, “It was a very painful experience, I must tell you. Sometimes the boys hit you hard where you never expected, they kicked and shouted at you. We walked several kilometers in the bush, crossing streams and rivers, and finding ourselves where we never imagined. It is the height of man’s inhumanity to man. At a point, they threatened to kill us if they did not get the ransom they were asking for.”

The terrorists numbering over 20 shot their way into the staff quarters of the University on Tuesday 2nd November 2021.

Twenty-four hours later, they demanded N300 million ransom.

However, the victims were released on Friday but Mohammed said no ransom was paid.

He said:

“I thank Allah that we are free at last without any severe harm, without the payment of any ransom. I thank the security operatives who worked closely with our safety officers; council chairman, Professor Ahmed Modibbo Mohammed, vice-chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, and others too numerous to mention. I thank my family, I thank everyone who has shown concern and care during our travails in the hands of our abductors.”
