TRAGEDY! Untold story of how suspected Fulani herdsmen kills OAU Phd student, kidnap others at Esa-Oke

Mr. Emmanuel Temitope OLANIYI, NCE, B.Ed, Two M.A. Ed, awaiting Phd at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife

It was widely reported yesterday, Wednesday, December 5, 2018 that suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked staffs and students of Esa-Oke College of Technology on their way home.  While some were kidnapped, two escaped, one of them, Emmanuel Temitope OLANIYI was not that lucky.

ESA-OKE:  He paid the supreme price as the gunmen shot him at close range in the head.

Investigations conducted by SOJWORLD.COM confirmed that Mr. Olaniyi was an ex-student of Osun State College of Education. He did his BA.Ed, two MA.Ed at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).

Until his death, Emmanuel Temitope Olaniyi was undergoing his Doctorate degree (Phd) at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), a lecturer at Esa-Oke College of Technology, Esa-Oke. It was while returning home from where he had lectured he met his untimely death.

After the shocking incident that, a friend his simply known as Shola wrote on his Facebook,

“[12/6, 16:02] ‬: I received the news of his death in rude shock. A gentle man to the core, a leader, a friend and a brother.

Ile aye ile asan, I remember I was absent when you do your PhD proposal.

Press release made available to SOJWORLD.COM, the Director of Media and Public Relations released the names of those that are being held by the kidnappers.

“There was an attack on Esa- Oke Road yesterday after close of work, the list of Staff Members of Osun State College of Technology still being held in the bush by the kidnappers are;

1. Mr Olaleye Olalekan Bus.Admin department,

2. Engr. Adeyeoluwa Bankole , HOD civil engineering, 3.Dr Jesuola Ajibola Director ventures

4. Adenreti Chukwu secretary to civil engineering department.

5. Olaniyi Emmanuel Temitope registry staff(died on the spot).

6. Rachael Onyinocha Akinboboye, OSCOTECH Microfinance Bank. This are the names of those we can identify that are missing , we will keep you posted as event unfold. Thank U. Director Media and PR. OSCOTECH. Esa- Oke.”

Mr Oyekanmi explained that the gunmen blocked Esa-Oke Road (a road leading to the college campus), stopped several vehicles including the victims’ vehicles and abducted them.

Also, the Students’ Union President of the institution, Adekunle Adeleke, who spoke to the press said the two students who escaped from their abductors disclosed that their kidnappers were Fulani herdsmen.

“As at 4:30 p.m. yesterday, they launched the attack. Out of the eight people abducted, two have returned and six are still in the bush,” he said.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the state police, Folashade Odoro, in an interview confirmed the release of the two students and their rehabilitation before releasing them to their families. She said efforts are on to free the other victims.

“We’ll release a statement very soon. But be rest assured that we are on it,” she said on Wednesday.
