The Osun Education Panel set up by the Governor of the State of Osun submitted its report today recommending a reversal of the single school uniform regime and return to the 6-3-3-4 education system in line with the National Education Policy.
These were part of the recommendations of the panel as presented by its Chairman, Professor Oluremi Aina to the Governor of the State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.
The executive Governor appreciated the Committee for its painstaking effort and promised that the government would act on the report without delay.
Statement made by Governor Gboyega Oyetola while the Education Panel Report:
In response to the demands of Osun people and in our bid to improve the quality of education in the State, we held a Policy Review Roundtable Summit on Education, and a Panel was raised to review some extant education policies of the State.
It was therefore, with great pleasure that I received the report of the Panel this morning at the Government House, Osogbo. I thank members of the Panel chaired by Prof. Olu Aina for finding time to invest in the future of our children and those unborn. Rest assured that your efforts will not be in vain.
On our part, we will be swift and proactive in perusing and debating the report with a view to implementing the recommendations without any further delay. We are prepared to do what will improve the lots of our people and protect the future of our children.
As a government, our policies and programmes are driven by citizens’ needs and demands. And as a leader, I am conscious of the need to be just and fair to all manner of people regardless of their leanings in the discharge of my duties. This I will always uphold.
