The video of the first National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) participants discharged at the passing out parade on June 30, 1974.
The NYSC program was made of university graduates called for one year community service.
It was created in 1973 by the then Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of Nigerian Armed Forces, General Yakubu Gowon modelled after the American Peace Corps established by the United States President, John F. Kennedy.
