EKITI APC PRIMARY. The unexpected show of shame at the APC governorship primary has come and gone but the wounds refused to heal as four major contenders are slugging it out with counter allegations and accusations.
The contenders are; Senator Babafemi Ojudu. Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Engr. Segun Oni and Hon. Bimbo Daramola.

“When they said they were going to cripple the state, we did not know what they meant was to attempt to forcefully hijack the ticket. Now that we know better, we assure they will meet stiff resistance from our people” says Gboyega Adeoye, ERO spokesperson.
“The pandemonium that ensued snowballed into serious fracas that caused every delegates scampering for safety and an abrupt seizure in the voting process. Ekiti State has been under siege preparatory to the primaries as ferocious looking armed mobile policemen that came in company of the Minister, seized all the major streets for days, in reckless display of show of oppression and terror.
“Dr Kayode Fayemi, during his declaration vowed that he was ready to use every underhand means to secure the ticket but our people have come out to say a resounding No! No amount of intimidation, brigandage and crude display of wealth will stop the people’s will to install a fresh hand in our state.
“We are ready for Fayemi, we have always campaigned for a transparent primary election because we have the people on our side. With the reaction of the people to the attempt to compromise the process, Fayemi now knows he does not have Ekiti people in his pocket,” Adeoye said.

DR. KAYODE FAYEMI
“It is quite painful seeing some desperate elements trying so much to rubbish the party we all laboured to build to national reckoning, out of share lust for power. If the quest for political position is to serve, then one wonders why the desperation being displayed by the likes of Femi Ojudu and Bimbo Daramola.
“Certainly the conduct of these desperate aspirants falls short of the minimum standards expected of anyone that professes progressive ideals.We urge our teeming supporters and loyal party members not to be discouraged by this despicable act. This surely shall pass, and better days are ahead. Our collective rescue mission has indeed begun,” Fayemi said.

SEGUN ONI
“Those who have penchant for cheating and fraud structured the primary to favour a particular aspirant. I was the APC National Deputy Chairman for four years, despite I never used my position to influence anything about a primary I was directly involved.
“When you have penchant for fraud or to cheat the system, it makes democracy to look sour and uninteresting.
“How would one feel to get to the field of play and found out that the referee was nominated by one of the teams? We found out that the Secretary of the committee, Aliyu Mogaji was nominated by an aspirant and Governor Al-Makura later got to know about this and dropped him from functioning as the Returning Officer.
“That is why the NWC led by Chief Oyegun owes all of us a thorough explanation about how Mogaji found himself in the committee and how to prevent such in future, except that we are hiding under democracy to fool ourselves.
“Whether I will be governor or not or hold political office in the future, I think enough is enough about people being desperate to get positions , because we must give confidence to our people”.

BIMBO DARAMOLA
“Nobody brought even one ballot paper out to show that it had been sorted and this candidate is closing in on victory.”
“I don’t think that is correct. People were voting, casting their ballots. I am not too sure of any box that people had brought out the paper and began to identify who has got the greater number of ballots.”
“Don’t forget that something will have to trigger something.
One of the things that happened today was that the rain started falling and then it took one hour twenty minutes for the rain to stop.
“When the rain started the whole of people infiltrated this arena and that cut down on the number of people… don’t forget that this arena is actually supposed to be a world away from people and when people took advantage of the rains to run under the arena, that process was compromised.
“And then, if anybody blames us, my appeal to you will be to ask the agents of the party what happened. The party allowed us to have three or four agents and then why didn’t they mention anybody else. I am not going to speak for anybody. There is no reason to conspire against Dr Fayemi. If Dr Fayemi beats everybody under a free and fair atmosphere, we are going to support him, we’d back him.”
“I have suffered in this party and just as the party gave me the leverage to touch peoples lives positively during my four year stay at the National Assembly. So I won’t destroy the party I toiled hard to build. I won’t go desperate. The party’s ethos is in my DNA.
But let’s put this in the right perspective. I am not too sure that any ballot box had been sorted and counted, but what I am sure about was the heist that was going on and eagled eyed agents pick the perpetrators.
Who was passing JKF notes around? Who was paying voters right there?” Bimbo Daramola queried.
