THE Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has brought with him since he assumed office as the Police boss the principle of ‘carrot and stick’.  He is known to have used both sides of the swords effectively as the situation demands.

He is a no-nonsense IGP who rewarded his men who performed their duties as professionals with commendations and promotion and at the same time, he has not failed to dismiss erring officers who painted the force black.

We heard of a police officer who was promoted for rejecting bribe of huge amount of US Dollars from a robbery suspect.

Another feat was performed during the course of the week when a Police Patrol team stopped to assist a motorist along Kaduna-Abuja Hughway to fix his tyre. 

Considering how dangerous the highway is, the officers need special commendation from the IGP and every well meaning Nigerians.

We are beginning to see new improved and friendly Police Officers in Nigeria.
